Meet the people behind the AlekSIS project
Our team

AlekSIS is developed by a group of dedicated people with different expertises. Together, they work on improving and maintainig the AlekSIS core and official apps.

Besides developing the AlekSIS software, the promotion of young developers is an important priority of the team. Hence, very young students are regular team members and are fostered as such.

Dominik George

Dominik George

Product Owner
Lives in Bonn, Germany

Dominik George has been involved in free open source software and teaching sind 2004 and has conceived digitisation projects starting as a student in 9th grade. He is now an experienced software developer and system administrator and continues working with and mentoring young FOSS contributors, mostly under the umbrella of Teckids e.V..

For AlekSIS, he works with schools to prioritise development tasks and represents the project at conferences.

Jonathan Weth

Jonathan Weth

Lead Developer / Maintainer
Lives in Potsdam, Germany

Jonathan Weth is currently studying IT Systems Engineering at the Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI) in Potsdam. As one of the initiators of the AlekSIS project and one of its predecessors, he’s involved in the AlekSIS development from the beginning. He is the lead developer of the project and is responsible for quality assurance and managing the development process.

In addition to software development, his interests are stage technology, literature and politics.

Julian Leucker

Julian Leucker

Frontend Developer
Lives in Vienna, Austria

Julian Leucker is currently in his second semester studying Software Engineering at the TU Vienna. He attended school at Katharineum zu Lübeck and worked on the AlekSIS predecessor SchoolApps. In AlekSIS, he is mainly concerned with making the user interface as comfortable as possible, as it is important to him to develop software that is as inclusive as possible for all users.

He also enjoys programming small projects, photography and listening to music.

Hangzhi Yu

Hangzhi Yu

Full-Stack Developer
Lives in Berlin, Germany
Hangzhi Yu is studying political science in Berlin. He joined AlekSIS after he started developing software in one of the predecessor projects during his school days at the Katharineum in Lübeck grammar school and experienced in practice what an important contribution Free Software can make to good education. He is currently involved in the AlekSIS project as a full-stack developer and supports AlekSIS pilot schools in the Berlin area. He is particularly concerned about the social potential of Free Software in terms of digital sovereignty, improved co-determination and a stronger orientation towards the common good.
Tom Teichler

Tom Teichler

DevOps Engineer
Lives in Wermelskirchen, Germany
Tom Teichler is an apprentice systems engineer, who has been involved in the development of AlekSIS and one of its predecessors. He works as a DevOps engineer and also takes care of our pilot schools.

Felix

Backend Developer
Lives in Bremen, Germany
Felix got in touch with AlekSIS as a Teckids member, started by contributing typo fixes and is now actively developing mainly backend features. Furthermore, he supports our pilot schools and answers requests reaching our team.
